Following God means obeying him in the personal areas of our life. It doesn't get any more personal than following God with our children, our time, and our money. In this passage, the nation of Israel pledges their obedience in these areas in response to all that God has done. There is much that applies to us here as well as acknowledging that no matter how well intentioned they are, they fail to do what they say by chapter 13.
