This passage begins the longest prayer recorded in the Bible next to Psalm 119. The prayer extols the Lord for being the Creator God, the covenant keeping God, and the God who saves. As we reflect on who God is, we see the Christian motivation for following God emerge: we obey God because of all he has done and for who he is. Exploring these verses leaves us with the impression how could Israel disobey? How can we? Thus we see the depth of our sin and the magnitude of God's forgiveness in Christ.
