Paying careful attention to God's Word, means that we reflect the attitude and approach God's people had when the book of the Law of Moses was read by Ezra. The goal was not intellectual knowledge and growth but an understanding which was expressed in applying what was read. God's Word is the words of life (see John 6:68), and we should not be content to just study the Bible but to understand it so that Christians will live lives that give glory to God.
