The last two qualifications for elders given in 1 Timothy 3 regard the necessity of having elders who are mature in the faith and have a good reputation with those outside the church. It is pretty straightforward and a great reminder that the church Timothy pastored in Ephesus must have been taking in new Christians otherwise Paul would not have written this. Having a good reputation in the world, does not mean compromising but conducting ourselves so that our lives point to the Savior.
