The wellspring of Christian service comes from our being grateful for what God has done for us. The Apostle Paul marvels at the wonder of being declared just by God's grace. He writes in this passage about his past and how he experienced God's grace and how that grace overflowed for him. Christians should always remember their former, pre-conversion life, and how God rescued them from hell and the misery of sin. Such memories are a great cause of joy and encouragement for us.
