This is the first in a series of sermons on 1 Timothy. Paul writes to Timothy urging him to stand up against those who are spreading false doctrine. In this passage, we see that we too as individuals and as a church, must stand up to false doctrine. How do we do it? By identifying false doctrine using the means Paul writes to Timothy about. This passage shows us false doctrine's form, false doctrine's aim or end goal, and false doctrine's misuse of the law.
