The transfiguration of Jesus is of practical importance to Christians.  As Jesus' divine nature is revealed to the disciples, we are reminded that we should listen to Jesus because he is God.  The law and the prophets point to Jesus' divine nature, as does the Father's approving voice, and the fact that Jesus conquers our final enemy, death.
